PROJECT DETAILS

This project didn’t begin with a floor plan. It began with a life shift. After a sudden and serious illness, the homeowners made the decision to move to Louisville to be closer to their adult daughters—purchasing this home sight unseen and relocating across the country in a matter of months. Their request was simple: make it feel like home… with a nod to their Pacific Northwest roots.

The house was dated, and each room needed attention. The main floor was taken down to the studs save for the original fireplace and ceiling beams, which became anchors for everything that followed. The kitchen and entertaining spaces were of high importance for the homeowners, who love to cook and entertain. A hidden door connects the office to the pantry, a practical detail with a sense of humor—ensuring dishes don’t linger too long where they shouldn’t.

Upstairs, the primary suite feels indulgent but unfussy. The bath is fully wrapped in tile, with a soaking tub set into a wet room that would make any spa-lover jealous. In the bedroom, arched details frame the bed and dissolve into custom nightstands with hidden storage. Ceiling-mounted pendants float over a softly papered ceiling—an ethereal pattern that, as the homeowners describe it, feels a bit like sleeping under clouds.

This project was featured in the Tour of Remodeled Homes, where it received the “People’s Choice” award, and has also been highlighted on Houzz and in The Courier Journal.
